‘I was fortunate enough to experience ‘High on the Hog’ around 15 years ago and you can imagine how surprised I was when I did another trip up to Alice to find out Al was still operating his ‘High on the Hog’ Harley tours. The initial ride so many years ago left me with some wonderful and magical memories that I couldn’t seem to forget and lucky for me, I was able to experience the ride all over again!
I would like to thank Al for another truly memorable experience. Not only is his local knowledge of the area extensive, he sure knows how to ride a Harley! Hopping on the beautiful ‘Black Betty’ was a great honor and taking off on this wonderful machine left me in total awe. I had no reservations or hesitations as we cruised along the highways, always feeling completely safe and extremely comfortable. This is an experience like no other, do not hesitate, just DO IT and have the ride of your life!
I would also like to congratulate Al on his wonderful 4wd outback adventures. He is extremely knowledgeable, courteous and has an enthusiasm for his local area that is indeed infectious! He didn’t need to convince me of the beauty of the awesome MacDonnell ranges, I was already hooked but I had no idea that there were so many amazingly beautiful, rugged and totally unspoilt places to visit. The photos and videos are the icing on the cake which makes a tour with Outback AL, one to remember forever.
Thanks Outback Al, thanks High on the Hog, never stop cruising....this wonderful part of Australia – Central Oz!!

Well, after doing a very enjoyable passenger tour with Alan 9 years ago, the self-ride tour that I did this time was even better than I'd been expecting. I never thought I'd want to buy a Harley before, but now I'm seriously considering it :)

I would like to say that my Harley tour was the best hour I have had in oz so far. The motorbike is fab and Alan's very knowledgeable of the surrounding area. If anyone has time to spare I strongly recommend that you take time out with AL and let him show you Central Oz in style!

When I booked my 2 hour pillion bike ride with Alan from ‘High on the Hog’ I had no idea that it would be such a special experience. I heard the bike coming up the street and I squealed with excitement. I ran outside to meet with Alan (my rider). I was immediately impressed that Alan was on time and then I saw Bronco. Bronco was so obviously loved and it sparkled luminously in the fresh morning sun.
We headed into town to the lookout at Anzac Hill. Then we travelled out to the Standley Chasm area via the back way. We then headed to Simpsons Gap where we got off the bike and walked through the Gap to the beach (sandy river bed), but it was a bit cold for a swim.
It is very hard to describe the landscape except to say that the rich red sand compliments the low shrub (you can see for miles) and the brilliant volcanic red rocks jut from the sand into a beautiful clear blue sky - it is a pallet of colour you MUST see to believe. Alan took photos at various stops so even if you forget your camera you will still have some great photos.
Alan was prompt, polite, knowledgeable, flexible, friendly and a very safe and sturdy rider. I got some great photos, my own and from Alan – he emailed them to me. Alan gave me a business card, a fridge magnet and special pin as mementos of the ride and this is great added value to the experience.
We went in June so it was quite chilly; I recommend that you double up on the socks if you go at this time and make sure you take a camera as the scenery and sites visited are simply spectacular.
I couldn’t recommend the experience highly enough – I will be back and very soon!!!

Great morning on the Harley!
It was heaps of fun, I really enjoyed it. First time on a motorbike for me and won't be the last!!
The 1:1 ratio allowed me to take my time to absorb the atmosphere and surrounds.
Would do the 1 or 2 day tour on the bike next time I'm in Alice Springs!

We were fortunate to experience the 4 hour tour of the West MacDonnell Ranges with AL. It has always been a dream of Enrico's to drive a Harley Davidson so he was over the moon to have been given this opportunity and despite our initial focus of the motorcycle ride, the local knowledge and passion that AL has for this magnificant area made this tour something that we will never forget. If you are reading this site to learn whether you should do it or not, please take our word that it is the best tour you can do in the area and you will be sad to miss out. Best wishes Al and thanks again for a lifetime memory on our honeymoon.

Dear Al
Thank you so much for the photos - I love them! I had a great time and have raved to so many people about the service that you provided and the knowledge that you have. I am hooked and going to look at learning to ride.
I also want to come back to do a two day ride.
Alice Springs environs affected me deeply. I felt such a strong sense of self there. You helped that happen also. Will talk to you soon.
Once again, thank you for making Saturday afternoon so special.
Cheers
Melissa of Australia
